Why Salt & Juniper?


Salt and Juniper. A strange name for a blog, right?

Not really.

As women who believe in Jesus, we are the salt of the earth (Matthew 5:13.) Each of us has a unique faith and personality that enhances life and brings a richness to the world we live in. We are the salt of the earth. We know our purpose and find joy in it.

But, we also have times we struggle. As single or married women, mothers, sisters, daughters, friends, or disciples, each of us carry burdens that are often quite heavy. We may find ourselves, at times, feeling down, dejected, or even hopeless.

That's how Elijah felt in 1 Kings 19:4 when he lay down under a juniper tree and told God he'd had enough. 

Life is messy. We run the gamut from elation to devastation, and everywhere in between--sometimes in just one day.

Most likely you've been in both places--times where you feel you've got a purpose, that you're making the world a better place.

Then there are times when you wonder if the world would be better off without you.
Maybe most times you're somewhere in between.

That's what this blog is about. The salt, the juniper, the good, the tough, and all the in-between.
